41cm Maori Patu (with Optional Stand) Trophies The Koru carving stands approximatelyThis Maori Patu is slightly larger than the average size Patu, measuring approximately 41cm (16 1 8") in length. It is carved in Rotorua and made from Tulip Wood, a sustainably harvested lightweight but very strong hardwood with a reddish brown hue. Patu are a pre European Maori artefact, usually flat with a rounded blade. They were either held in the hand, attached to a cord for the hand to go through, or tucked into a woven belt.
